Young Journalists
Sponsor: Mr. Marcus Stein
The Young Journalists is Lake Forest Charter’s premier writing organization. This group of talented 6-8 graders gathers weekly to discuss campus news, to compose and analyze original works of fiction and nonfiction, and to collaborate to create Lake Forest’s student-produced newspaper, The Eagle Eye.
The members of the Young Journalists are nominated by the Lake Forest Charter English Department and are held to LFC’s elevated standards of academics and citizenship. During their service as members of the Young Journalists, participants are required to remain in good academic standing, to attend and participate in weekly meetings, to consistently compose original writings, and to exhibit exemplary behavior on and off campus.
Members play the roles of true reporters as they continuously scan the campus for a variety of student writings and news from ALL grade levels. Lastly, some additional activities that Young Journalists look forward to are Story Time with lower graders, National Day of Reading/ Writing, and Open Microphone Poetry Nights.
